Guild Member, Ramona Long to Read at Jackson Inn Saturday, August 13th at 5 P.M.

For the Second Saturday Poets August is Fiction Month. And, WR Guild Member, Ramona DeFelice Long, the featured author, will be reading her short story, "Evie."  The reading begins at 5 p.m.

Ramona Long is an author, editor, teacher, free write leader, and Facebook writing group cheerleader. As a writer, her fiction and non-fiction has been published in juvenile and literary magazines. She has been awarded grants from the Delaware Division of the Arts, the Pennsylvania State Arts Council and the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. She has served as editor of two published short story anthologies, with three more collections currently in the publishing process. Ramona is a DLC board member, as well as a member of Sisters in Crime, the Written Remains Writers Guild, the Hillandale Farm Critique Group and Pennwriters.

Sharing the spotlight with Ramona is Barbara E. GrayBarbara is the director of the Delaware Literary Connection.  Her novel, The Practice Manager, won First Prize for the Novel at the 2005 Sandhills Writers’ Conference in Augusta, Georgia.  In 2006, she was selected to attend the Delaware Division of the Arts Masters' Workshop in Fiction.  Her short story, "Aftermath," was awarded second place in the 2008 Out & About magazine writing contest.  She is a member of the Hillandale Farm Critique Group in Newark.  She is currently working on a novel, Frankie and the Bingo Babes, and a memoir collection, Clayton Street Blues.  She is the administrative manager for the Center for Pediatric Research and the Pediatric Research Lung Center at the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, and also edits manuscripts for submission to biomedical/scientific journals.    

The Jackson Inn is located at  101 North DuPont Road, Wilmington, DE 19807-3105 where North DuPont Road and Lancaster Avenue intersect. It’s across the street from the Lancaster Avenue entrance to the Silverbrook Cemetery and faces the large sculpture on the corner of North DuPont Road that fronts the Cab Calloway School for the Performing Arts (Wilmington High School).

There will be the usual $5 cover, which gifts the featured readers. Free parking is available in the parking lot that surrounds the Inn. The food is tasty and reasonably priced!


NOTE: The Jackson Inn holds a tavern license, and while they serve food, they are restricted to the limitations of a tavern for serving alcohol. That means that Second Saturday attendees MUST BE 21 years of age to attend readings at the Jackson Inn.

An open mic follows the featured reading. Bring your own poetry or short prose to read. Please limit your reading to 5 minutes.
