Five authors from the Written Remains Writers Guild will give readings in mixed genre fiction – fantasy, humor, literary, mystery, and suspense – in the Community Room at the New Castle Public Library on Saturday, April 16th at 2 p.m. as part of the library’s National Library Week celebration.
Weldon Burge’s fiction has appeared in Suspense Magazine, Futures Mysterious Anthology Magazine, Grim Graffiti, The Edge: Tales of Suspense, Alienskin, Glassfire Magazine, and Out & About (a Delaware magazine). His stories have also been adapted for podcast presentation by Drabblecast, and have been accepted for the anthologies Don't Tread on Me: Tales of Revenge and Retribution, Pellucid Lunacy: An Anthology of Psychological Horror, Ghosts and Demons, and Something Dark in the Doorway: A Haunted Anthology. He frequently writes book reviews and conducts interviews for Suspense Magazine. At the reading, Burge will read Performance Anxiety a work of flash fiction
JM Reinbold is the Director of the Written Remains Writers Guild and editor of the WR Blog. She received an Honorable Mention from the Delaware Division of the Arts Individual Artist Fellowship Awards 2011 for her work on Prince of the Piedmont. Strange Love a poem,was recently published in Red Fez. Her novella, Transfusions, was nominated for a Washington Science Fiction Association Small Press Award. She co-edited with Ramona Long, Stories from the Inkslingers, a collection of short fiction by Delaware authors published by Gryphonwood Press in 2008. At the reading, Reinbold will share a chapter from her Britcrime mystery novel, Ding Dong Bell.Greg Smith’s first novel, Final Price, was first released as a self-published work, then signed to publisher AmazonEncore. It was re-released in November, 2010. Final Price also won First Place in the Delaware Press Association's 2010 Communication Contest (Fiction Category.) Now available nationwide and in e-book form, the book has, so far, sold over 10,000 copies. He has a second thriller, Noble Cause, under consideration with the publisher and is now editing the sequel to Final Price, tentatively titled, Legacy of the Dragon. At the reading, Smith will share a chapter from his debut novel, Final Price.

Sherry Thompson has two novels of epic fantasy, Seabird and Earthbow, published by Gryphonwood Press. A third novel in the Narentan Tumults series, The Gryphon and the Basilisk, is forthcoming. Seabird was one of the top award winners in the 2006 Genesis writing contest. Her short fiction has appeared in F/SF, The Best of Gryphonwood, Dark Places, and Stories from the Inkslingers. She is recently retired from the University of Delaware Library. At this reading Thompson will share an excerpt from her latest novel, Earthbow.
Kristy Truax-Nichols’ short story A Synchronicity of Numbers is a finalist for the Eric Hoffer Award for Short Fiction. Her short story North is forthcoming in Electric Velocipede (Volume 25). Electric Velocipede is a Hugo Award winning small press speculative fiction zine edited by John Klima. At this reading, Truax-Nichols will share a work of short fiction called A Storm of Swallows. A “Meet the Authors” reception follows the reading.
